Robots.txt Resource Block Review

Sample 2 · 2026-10-29 · Grok Bot executor subagent (model family not disclosed)

Bot page

I can check this file, but I need a list of URLs to test it against. Whether a rule is a problem depends on which paths it hits.

What I need (required): 1. Important URLs and resources, as full paths. Please include your home page, one page of each main type (for example product, category, article), and the CSS, JavaScript and image paths your pages load. View source on any page shows the real paths. Your rule "Disallow: /wp-" matches every path that starts with /wp-, so I need your real paths to see what it blocks.

  1. What you want kept private. You said you want Google to "see everything important". Are there sections you want kept out of crawling (for example an admin area, cart or internal search)? I will not assume any.

  2. The empty "Disallow:" line. Your * group has "Disallow:" with no path followed by "Disallow: /wp-". Did you mean to block something with the empty line? Google says crawlers ignore a disallow rule without a path, so only "/wp-" applies today.

Defaults I will apply unless you tell me otherwise: - Crawlers tested: Googlebot, which uses your * group. Your GPTBot group ("Disallow: /") applies only to GPTBot, so I will list it as written and not test it unless you ask. - Private sections: if you name none, I will treat no section as private and flag every blocked URL for you to review.

Then I will return the groups and rules, a URL test table with the deciding rule and path lengths for each URL, the problems found, the smallest proposed edit (any rule waiting on your answer stays in it, marked as held), and a re-test. I will not replace robots.txt without your approval.
